BLHT OBTAINS FAVORABLE SETTLEMENT IN LAWSUIT AGAINST THE CITY OF TAMPA

BLHT recently brought to a successful conclusion, settling for several hundred thousand dollars, a lawsuit against the City of Tampa for violations of the Americans with Disabilities and the Fair Housing Acts.  The Firm represented a highly-esteemed local provider of housing to disabled veterans.  The City Council gave in to the pressure from neighbors who did not want disabled veterans living next door, and denied the client’s application to provide housing.  The Firm then brought a lawsuit against the City of Tampa in federal court in 2018.  On the eve of trial in November 2019, the City of Tampa settled the matter.  The settlement helps vindicate the rights of disabled veterans to live in housing in the neighborhoods of their choice.  The trial team for this matter included Ethan Loeb and Allison Doucette.
